The Township of Perth East is recruiting for one Program/Camp Leader based out of Shakespeare to assist with programming on PA Days, special events and Summer Camp. Under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Program/Camp Leader assists in establishing and maintaining programs. They organize, implement and supervise games, arts and crafts projects and myriad fun activities. They are instrumental in providing a high quality, enriching program to participants.

Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall day-to-day operation, and the safety and supervision, of the recreational programs and its participants.
- Fostering an environment of collegial teamwork and effective communication between employees and participants.
- Understanding the basic principles of child development in order to support healthy development and relationships among its participants.
- Supporting the goals and objectives of Perth East Recreation Complex “PERC” through quality programming, engaged leadership and productive public and employee relations.
- Promoting and demonstrating the Township’s core values including integrity, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Fulfilling the Township’s mission of providing innovative leadership and services essential to creating an inclusive and sustainable community.
- Completing all administrative tasks, including accident/incident reports, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Following policies and procedures including the Township’s Health and Safety policy and the Occupational Health and Safety Act ensuring a safe environment.
- Arriving on time and properly dressed in uniform.
- Performing other related duties as assigned
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C received from the Red Cross, Lifesaving Society or St. John Ambulance is required.
- One (1) to two (2) years’ experience working with children in recreational programs required.
- Experience working with the community, event planning/program planning.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, public relations/customer service skills required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to function in high pressure situations, is required.
- Effective in collaborating as a member of a team.
- Knowledge of the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development model is desirable.
- This is a position with variable hours based on operational need. 4 – 12 hours/week, up to 35 hours for Summer and Winter Camps. The schedule is varied and includes days, evenings and weekends.
- Hourly Pay Range: $17.84 - $22.30 per hour
- Position Duration: May 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026
- In addition, all employees over the age of 18 must successfully pass a Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector Check.
Competition closes at NOON on April 14, 2025.
