The Township of Perth East is recruiting for a student to coordinate our 2026 summer camp program. The Camp Coordinator will help plan and develop seasonal programming, events and camp activities. The incumbent will supervise the Camp Leaders working in the program and provide ongoing direction, supervision and evaluation. The Camp Coordinator will assist the Recreation and Community Coordinator in establishing and implementing orientations for Camp Leaders and will be responsible for completing administrative duties and assisting in registration for program and summer campers.

- Develops comprehensive seasonal camp plans, including schedules, staffing needs, program themes, and activity outlines ensuring a wide variety of camp activities that target specific program and camp requirements.
- Creation and development of program planning to meet participants’ age and developmental needs
- Manage inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring resources are maintained and replenished.
- Assists in planning, developing and facilitating staff training.
- Under the direction and approval of the Recreation and Community Coordinator, assists with updating policies and procedures.
- Assesses camper enrollment trends to plan group sizes, staffing ratios, and resource allocation.
- Prepares end-of-summer camp administrative reports summarizing attendance, incidents, programming outcomes, and improvement recommendations by September 15th following the end of summer camp.
30% Administration and Training
- Completes all administrative tasks including but not limited to completing participants emergency contact forms, updating attendance and sign in sheets week to week, planning the camps seating plans, parent emails and communication in a timely, accurate manner.
- Maintains all program related documentation
20% Supervision, Staffing and Behaviour Management
- Responsible for supervising day-to-day operations of the program, addressing concerns relating to staffing, participants or programs
- Provide back up on an as needed basis during program/camp activities.
- When requested by a program/camp leader, assist in any participant behavioural management concerns.
- Supervises and mentors Program/Camp Volunteers and ensures their active participation in programming.
- Encourages teamwork and consistent communication between Program/Camp Leaders and participants.
- Ensures Program/Camp Leader ratios are met at all times, and steps in to assist when needed.
- Fosters healthy child development and relationships amongst participants.
- Acts as a knowledgeable resource to the participants, parents/guardians and staff.
- Follows all policies and procedures and memorizes safety and rescue procedures.
- Follows Health and Safety policies and procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act ensuring a safe working environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Enrolled or completed post-secondary education for one of the following areas: Recreation and Leisure, Child and Youth Studies or Social Services; High School Diploma.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C (Red Cross, Lifesaving Society, or St. John Ambulance).
- HIGH FIVE Principles of healthy child development certification, HIGH FIVE Quest 1 certifications are an asset.
- Experience working with children in recreation program.
- Experience working with the community, event and program planning.
- Displays strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Good interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
- Previous experience or participation in an aquatics program recommended.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, public relations/customer service skills required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to function well under pressure, are required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
Position Details:
- This is a position with variable hours based on operational need, up to 40 hours during camp sessions. The schedule is varied and includes days, evenings and weekends.
- 2026 Hourly Pay Range: Grade 3: $20.11 - $25.14 per hour

- Must have access to a vehicle and be able to travel between the Milverton and Shakespeare camp locations on a regular basis.
