The Perth East Public Library (the “Library”) is recruiting for a Part-Time, Coordinator of Community Connections, for a period up to sixteen (16) months.
Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Library Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), the Coordinator of Community Connections is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of Library programs and outreach initiatives following the Library Strategic Plan. The position will support circulation duties.

The position will support circulation duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform circulation, reference, research, reader’s advisory and technological services duties
- Schedule computer and technical support appointments.
- Oversee reception by greeting the public, answering the telephone and directing calls to the appropriate party.
- Oversee Library program registrations.
- Responsible for scheduling Facility rentals following established policy.
- Responsible for organizing and creating the calendar of events.
- Participate in key community events to promote the library.
- Research, plan, develop, implement and evaluate all programs offered by the Library. Including offsite programming.
- Facilitate partnerships with local volunteer groups, organizations, social agencies, school boards and specialized groups in the implementation of programs and services.
- Oversee the ordering and delivery of materials to homebound patrons.
- Create and maintain engaging content on the Library’s website, social media platforms, and online catalogue.
- Resolve customer concerns and complaints; refers to CEO when required.
- Engage with other professionals and associations to ensure the Library remains current
- Process and maintain records on appropriate spreadsheets. Balance petty cash sheet daily and reconciles bank deposits at the end of the month.
- Supports CEO to find and apply for applicable grants to support programming costs.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of collections.
- Develop, implement and maintain statistical spreadsheets, and provide monthly and annual reports to the CEO as requested.
- Supervise Library Pages, summer students and volunteers.
- Responsible for opening and closing the Library in accordance with established procedures.
- May be responsible for responding to after hours security monitoring.
- Assist the CEO with the recruitment, selection and orientation of new Library employees.
- Offer administrative support to the CEO when required, including preparing correspondence.
- Represent the Library when attending joint initiative meetings.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Post-secondary degree or Community College Diploma in Library Studies required.
- One (1) year previous experience or equivalent in a public library setting.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Valid “G” Driver’s License.
- Professional proficiency using Microsoft Office, demonstrated competency with current information technology.
- Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to problem solve in a customer-focused environment.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication, public relations/customer service skills are required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to function well under pressure, required.
- Committed to personal growth and learning and effectively adapts to change and challenges.
- Experience with Horizon, Libby and Bibliocommons is considered an asset.
- Obtain a clear vulnerable sector police check
- Have a valid Class G driver’s license
Terms of Employment:
- Up to Sixteen (16) month contract position
- Part-time position, up to thirty-four (34) hours per week with varying hours to include evening and weekend shifts.
- 2026 Hourly Rate of Pay Range: $28.20 - $34.63 (Grade 6)
